I love this group because I’m a foodie and I feel that Julia elevates the WFPB diet experience with her sophisticated but nutritious dishes that are still easy enough to make.

Chef Julia has really good food. How ever I need to limit my nuts due to weight gain. But I love your food. I thought I didn’t like tofu until I made a Tofu dish with the marinade. Yummy
LaTonya Dover -
Your YouTube tutorials have been so helpful and taught me so much about using things like Tahini, Tofu, Nutritional Yeast, sautéing without oil, and how to season foods. I had never cooked with most of these things before and I wouldn’t have been able to stick with the WFPB way of eating, so Thank You!
Linda Torres-Godlewski -
Chef Julia helps me slow down and listen, due to her calm demeanor. My hyperactive brain, responds well to her. I have picked up several cooking tips while watching your videos. I’ve become a fan of Boxers!
Andi Cobb -
Chef Julia has hit upon the ideal formula for a support group. It has become integral to my life and has enabled me to adopt the WFPB lifestyle. Chef Julia and members are all so encouraging and help us quickly get back on the wagon if we fall off, which we all do at times. Love that the support is 24 x7 And that there are SO many practical tips and fantastic recipes. Chef Julia leads by example and is very personable in her classes and teaching style. (And I love seeing her pups!)
Donna Garbe -
The unconditional support. Being able to be honest about struggles and receive such encouragement. The inspiration from people’s successes. Chef Julia’s constant inspiration to take care of ourselves and the success of her journey. The delicious recipes – with SO much flavor ( NOT BEIGE FOOD!!! ) and brilliant ideas shared by Chef Julia and all members. Love the Facebook videos, the YouTube videos and the Zoom classes! I have over 3 binders FILLED with all of the recipes and I use them again and again. Cannot go without saying how much I love the pups! Kameko and Jiro are so very sweet and love seeing what they are up to! Missing Mochi and Taro, but so very happy that they are without pain.
Teri Malnar -
I have leaned how to incorporate many types of cuisine into my food journey. You’ve come up with so many great recipes that my family enjoys!
Veronica Treston -
I totally agree with what everyone has said above! I love watching your YouTube videos! Watching you cook and listening to you is like meditation. I’m so grateful I can connect with you daily. Thanks for everything you do, you motivate me. I love all your recipes that I have tried.
Mary Cooper -
I really love seeing what people are eating and the amazing recipes. Cooking is not my forte but I do it out of necessity. I’m so grateful for the inspiration. I really appreciate the free YouTube tutorials
Toni McMorris -
All the great recipes. Learning how to cook brown rice and have it come out perfect every time. How to chop veggies quickly without cutting myself. Love all the different cuisines we make in the Zoom classes. Teaching me that WFPBNO is delicious and never boring.

Chef Julia has been the silver lining in our WFPB lifestyle since the very beginning of our journey in Oct 2018. Hers were the Thanksgiving & Christmas dinner recipes I made for our first holidays eating this way. Chef Julia’s always there to help, support and gently suggest new ways to stay on this journey for the rest of our lives, which because we’re eating this way will hopefully be longer as we know we are healthier. She’s candid, honest and humble. We are not perfect, but we all try our best to eat and do better each day. She’s always creating new recipes and flavors for foods we never would have tried or paired together without her relentless testing to get a recipe just right. I’ve made foods for my husband he never would have eaten without her tasty recipes. She teaches more than a cooking class, in every class she gives so much advice and help along with creating the recipes. I admire her dedication and gentle spirit, she learns more about eating this way and helps us all to do better. I doubt we’d be as energized about the benefits of eating this way without her advice, knowledge, example and her amazing & creative recipes, videos and classes. I’m a much better cook, though some days I don’t always want to cook, because of her! Her “support” group is just that, a network of great support to help you & pick you up when you need it. No judgement, no negative comments just support, help & advice.
Melanie Maruca Drescher -
I have to agree with all the comments above! You have helped me want to play more in the kitchen and are so encouraging. Thank you.
Caroline Bunts -
You’ve helped me make choices that worked for me in lowering my cholesterol (like shelf stable tofu vs refrigerated, oat milk vs almond milk) You respond to anyone and I love that…plus, I love your recipes!!!
Linda Sims -
You have inspired me to try cooking new foods.
Shannon Gillespie -
Chef Julia keeps me focused and motivated. She gave me great recipes to try.
Colleen Schumacher Parker -
So many ways! Kitchen techniques, what useful tools and appliances to purchase and use, inspiration to plant our first garden, learned to prepare and enjoy foods that I never would have without Chef to gently role model for us, best banana bread ever and the will to keep on going & growing despite not yet being 21 day challenge worthy. Appreciate the candor from others on this page.
Les Swanson -
From all my support groups, I’ve learned & enjoyed the most from the very gracious, funny, creative, original, easygoing & hardworking Chef Julia .. I could go on ! lol
Aarti Gokal -
My degree is in foods & nutrition although it heavily promotes the SAD lifestyle. Honestly, that’s one reason I walked away from the health care industry. I had set aside much of my learning & you have helped me bridge my past food knowledge with a healthier & better future. I’ve enjoyed watching you grow & share with your followers. I’ve been watching & following you for awhile. I have learned so much since you began. I like that you give tips or tricks (& useful information) which inspire & improve everyday cooking skills. You’ve shared your food discoveries, adventures & your personal successes & achievements. Since we all have to eat, you have made it easier as well as healthier for myself & others.
Judie Hennek Pouya -
I have tried a lot of crazy WFPB recipes and been disappointed. I stick with chef Julia because I’m yet to be disappointed by her yummy recipes.
JeAnna Cartier -
I love all of the support from the group. I’ve learned so much from your classes and YouTube channel. Thank you for the inspiration.
Kimmy Sue -
I am finally ready to change my life…change my diet. Took me almost 60 years (next week I’m 60) but I am all in to do this for the rest of my life. I know nothing so this group is very helpful and I purchase one of Chef Julia’s books and started watching her cooking videos. Her videos are giving me the skills & knowledge to cook like I need to. No looking back!
Lora Ingram -
I will also add that seeing what you eat each day is helpful. When I see your food I think “I can eat like that or I would eat that” it looks delicious but not overly complicated.
Chris Hamilton Parker -
Chef Julia has helped me in many ways, including her YouTube tutorials on how to make things. Talking about how to use items for different dishes. Explaining how to cook things. Tips on products. I enjoy each video. You’re kind and very helpful.
Tammy Montgomery -
I’ve learned so much from Chef Julia. The recipes are always spot on. The online classes and PDF files are so worth the money. The teaching is about lifestyle change and progress. No need to be perfect. I love that this is about whole food. The support has been wonderful. People are very friendly and supportive. Appreciate no negativity. Just support
Catherine Deeter -
I like the international cuisine also. Look forward to the monthly cooking classes. Appreciate experiences and knowledge that comes with age. Love the gardening aspect. So glad that she is modest in dress.. don’t like seeing fellow chef youtubers showing cleavage and belly buttons, etc.
Earline Hyson Costello -
Greater understanding of international cuisines, particularly those of Asia. This group is one of the most supportive and least antagonistic/confrontational of the many WFPB groups I follow. So many of the groups I follow contain erroneous information. Some of the WFPB groups are extremely rigid and full of nos, don’ts, can’ts, and must nots. This group is more accepting of where people are and encouraging of the journey. If I need a recommendation for an ingredient or equipment or a source for something, I get good recommendations here. This group feels more intimate, perhaps because it’s smaller and there is regular participation from the owner and some members.

I can wholeheartedly say that doing the live classes with you was a godsend at a time when we were all isolated and some of us were completely alone. I learned a lot and for me personally not only have I lost some weight but I now have many delicious recipes I can use – I’ve been fully vegan since 2015 and sometimes struggled with creating variety, your classes gave me exactly what I needed + I learned to cook without oil, which was a big thing for me. I am grateful for you Julia and, I’m so happy for your success…you love what you do and, that comes across in your teaching. Thank you
Michelle James (England) -
I am alive because of this group. I found you surfing FB doing your live and was instantly hooked. I had been in the hospital because I have cardiac artery disease and it wasn’t looking good and bedridden. When you began the 21-day challenge in May 2020, I participated not with the full relish, but with what I had. The recipes, the encouragement, and the love from your soul have helped me on my healing journey tremendously. I am much improved. I work out twice a day, and shredded about 40 pounds, first time in years I am below 200 pounds and close to my goal weight. I have strength in my torso and can stand without fatigue; my cognitive abilities have improved, and I once again enjoy reading ferociously. I fully expect when I attend my medical appointment in August with the full team, there will be no discussion about any type of heart surgery, all because this kind woman Chef Julia shared her journey and cooked online.

I am in awe of all the work that went into this one class. Thank you. Tremendous impact on my life and family

My Sushi Basics experience was AMAZING! I wanted to learn how to make sushi for my husband…but was skeptical to take the class since I don’t eat traditional sushi (fish/crab) myself. NO WORRIES! Chef Julia taught me how to make the most delicious sushi with prime grilled beef and teriyaki chicken! It was fantastic!! Now I have the skills to make traditional sushi for my husband…and sushi with a twist for myself!! This is the third class I have taken from Chef Julia and each one is wonderful. She is informative, inventive, and creative. I highly recommend her classes as well as her catering services!
Jay R -
Incredible class, worth the hour drive for a piece of key lime pie!
Chef Sharon Van Meter - Chef
I loved, loved, loved the class. It was so informative (and informal.). The atmosphere is so comfortable and relaxed. I didn’t know who may be attending when I signed up to come and BAM!, there was Diana Bench and Carolyn Mobley two friends I dearly love!! Diana shared her champagne with me What I enjoyed was your knowledge of food and herbs!! I have seen my mom “sear” the roast but never knew to season it before or how long to sear it for. The kind of meat matters but not if you don’t know what to do with it when you get it home. I appreciate you using fresh herbs. I would like to use fresh ingredients in my kitchen. Showing me “how-to” is awesome!! Enjoyed getting to eat what you prepared. That was delicious. I’m making the chicken this evening. I discovered I had a pot similar to what you were using. It is from the pampered chef (rock crok). It seemed to work just fine. I had a wonderful time and Marshall thoroughly enjoyed the “to go” that I brought to him.
Diane Morrison -
Your classes are very well organized and presented with ideas of how to prep things in advance or how to organize yourself to accomplish a lot in less time. You provide us the recipes so that we can follow and make annotations as we are learning. And most of all, as I said before on Facebook, you are making me love to cook which I did not even think of before. Thank you!
Susan Hayes -
Everything was amazing! I’ll be dreaming of that chocolate pot de creme for days!
Jaye Ridgeway - Family Cook
Thanks for letting me come to Comfort Food 101. I was nervous because this was my first cooking class. Julia explained terms, cooked the food and answered everyone’s questions. The stew was my favorite. The surprise dessert was the best chocolate I’ve ever tasted. I saw her use the garlic press, a first time experience, then picked one up for myself after leaving class
Terry Matherly - Executive Chef
Great cooking class Julia! You are making me fall in love with the idea of cooking. I recommend her for anyone who would like to learn great recipes with a wonderful chef!!! I would like to say that I so enjoyed your class on comfort foods 101, it was so much fun and educational as well. I can’t wait to take more classes in the future! Julia is the best chef and tries very hard to make sure everyone understands her techniques and also cares so much about all of her students really enjoy their class. She is a great teacher and I really look forward to more classes to attend. Thank you so much Julia! P.S. Next time I hope I win some of your brownies! They were so amazing! I want to take that class for sure!
